The Bridge Quartet

The two quartets are superbly played by this eponymous group, who are right inside the music and present it with an almost improvisational spontaneity.

Quotes from participants on the recent course at La Grange Cochard, Beaujolais, France

I am writing to thank all of you for presenting a wonderful workshop, by far the best I have ever attended (a dozen or so). You are superb teachers: you take everyone from exactly where they are, you move them along by clear communication, you are patient and oh so kind. And you are warm and friendly outside of the lessons, which does a lot for morale.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you putting on such a wonderful music course. I know how much work must have gone into all the preparations along with the excellent tuition and most enjoyable concerts. Thanks also for going out of your way to look after us so well before and during our stay. We had a wonderful time.

Quotes from participants on last year's course at Alston Hall

“...thanks for the amazing weekend at Alston. It was so enjoyable. High spot (apart from your concert) definitely the Master Class. I've never learned so much in such a short space of time. As for getting a round of applause for playing a chord correctly in the Bridge after several attempts, what more has life to offer?

I wanted to drop you a line to tell you how much I enjoyed the week-end course at Alston Hall and how much I feel I have benefited from it.
You all managed to provide kindly but direct tuition and you have certainly provided me with the motivation to practise a bit more and become rather more reliable as a musician!
The concert you gave was so enjoyable - being so close to the music was a scalp-prickling experience!

I need hardly say how much we enjoyed your tutoring and company....I learnt such a lot and I enjoyed talking to you as well. It is so nice to hear your learned views on Haydn and has certainly made me look at the opus 20 quartets in a new light.
