The Bridge Quartet give here, arguably, the finest account of Grieg's G Minor Quartet since the 1937 Budapest version and certainly the most idiomatic of all modern recordings. This is noble playing admirably recorded.

The Bridge String Quartet of London, named after the British composer Frank Bridge (1879-1941) whose works have featured extensively in their concerts, have enjoyed an exciting and successful career over a couple of decades. They were recipients of three Kirckmann Concert Society concerts and made their Wigmore Hall debut in 1999. They have since launched into a series of festival and international engagements, including the City of London Festival, the English Music Festival, the “Haydnfest” in Manchester, festivals in Spain, France and Croatia and an extensive American tour.
Their recordings of Frank Bridge quartets have brought them top ratings from the musical press. Their CD “Free Spirits” featuring the quartets of Grieg and Delius was Strad Chamber music CD choice. This is clearly an ensemble in the major league.
